I love the trees changing colors, especially here in Delavan where we have a zillion varieties of maple trees, in a zillion different fall colors. Right now, I'm looking out the upstairs window at a very tall (but not very old) maple in brilliant red; beyond that are golds, yellows, russets, and every mottled shade in between.
However, it is cold, cold, cold! Which I hate. There was a freeze last night and I did bring in my house plants from the front porch, but the big ceramic pots with geraniums are still sitting out in the frost. Last year I took all the soil out of them and moved them into the garage. But what do I put the soil in to save it for next year? (Last year I just piled it in the garden--maybe I should do that with a tarp or something over it?)
This afternoon I must force myself to go out in the cold and plant the 24 Dutch Master daffodil bulbs and the 12 Apricot Beauty tulip bulbs that I bought from White Flower Farm.
Brrrrrrr.
